Hope lives here.

It is our desire to meet the immediate needs of our guests and to create an environment that inspires real-life changes that lead to restoration and rehabilitation. We do this by providing a safe place for emergency shelter and transitional housing.

In 2023, Philly House sheltered 30% of Philadelphia’s single men - representing 1,753 unique individuals.

Men’s Emergency Shelter

As the city’s largest and longest-running shelter, we provide a safe, clean refuge off the streets along with deep, intentional engagement to see a long-term impact.  Philly House offers overnight emergency shelter for men, allowing guests to stay with us for 30 days at a time.

Our guests come for shelter and food, and also find a holistic, empowering refuge from the streets through deep, intentional care.

We offer select services to women at our 13th Street location, such as meals and showers.

If you know someone who needs a meal and a place to stay, please offer them this information to help them find their way to our shelter in Center City.

For ALL institutional discharges (hospitals, prisons, etc.), an “External Agency Referral Form” must be submitted to Philadelphia’s Office of Homeless Services.  You are not authorized to discharge to Philly House, nor any other shelter in Philadelphia, without submitting this.  For more information – email or call:  OHSRDCintake@phila.gov or (215) 686-5671.

  • Philly House will not accept any discharged person without a referral from the City’s Office of Homeless Services.

For ‘after-hours’ or on weekends, contact the Mike Hinson Resource Center at (267) 737-9099 for information and/or resources. For more info…

The Next Leval Program Helps build Strong Relations with God and with each other.

The Next Level Program

The Next Level Program is a twelve-month transitional housing program available to emergency shelter guests that are seeking stability, spiritual development and long-term success.

The goal of the program is to equip homeless men with the practical and spiritual life skills they need to be self-sufficient individuals and positive contributors to society. Men in the Next Level Program maintain up to a one-year residency at Philly House in “dorm style residents” on the 4th floor.

To enter the Next Level program residents have verified full-time employment or have income from other sources. Each resident is expected to pay a program fee of 40% of their total monthly income. Philly House sets up a savings escrow account for each resident by depositing 20% of the program fee while living in the program. When a man leaves the program, he receives these funds.

Residents attend monthly bible studies and participate in weekly case management as they begin to rebuild relationships, reconnect with the community and gain the resources they need for lasting success.
