For Partners & Supporters

When we started in 1878, we simply served breakfast to men on Sunday mornings. Today we do so much more for the homeless, hungry and hurting in Philadelphia and we needed a name that expressed more than “Sunday” and “breakfast.”

Our new name—Philly House—reflects two foundational elements of who we are:
For more than 140 years, we’ve been proud to be Philadelphia’s largest and longest-running shelter, solely focused on serving this city we love.
We are a welcoming, safe, well-run refuge from the streets for the homeless, hungry and hurting—a place that treats everyone like family.
-
It starts with an image of a keystone—which represents both our heritage in the state of Pennsylvania and a foundational part of a house. Then it features an open door and a roof—that reflects our desire to be a welcoming, safe, clean refuge to the homeless, hungry and hurting.
The roof is also an arrow that symbolically points up to God, who is the one who offers us holistic transformation and unconditional love.
-
We remain steadfastly focused on serving the homeless, hungry and hurting with the same vision and mission: to open our doors 365 days a year to let them know that they are not alone and to activate others' God-given potential for life transformation.
If we change anything it will be to continue to enhance and expand our services to make an even greater, more holistic impact on the City of Philadelphia.

While there are several ways to give and get involved, we invite you to make a difference and donate today.
